Introducing Sarco: Switzerland’s 3D Printed Suicide Capsule
Why It's Lit
Because you can now choose to have a pain-free death in 30 seconds.
Believe It Or Not
Switzerland is the first country to approve an assisted suicide chamber, named Sarco. It’s 3D printed and with a push of a button the patient will be able to administer nitrogen gas in the chamber.
This cuts off oxygen and results in death in just 30 seconds.
Exit International, the non-profit behind the capsule is dedicated to suicide advocacy. The founder of the non-profit, Dr Philip Nitschke, says that despite the lack of oxygen “there is no panic, no choking feeling.”
There is controversy over Sarco because there will be no medical staff involved, just an AI-powered test.
If you pass the test, you’ll have access to the capsule.
Sarco is transportable, so you can die near your favourite mountain or beach just like you always dreamed of…
Assisted suicide in Switzerland was legalized in 1941 and was the first country in the world to permit any kind of assisted dying.
Drop This Fact
Assisted suicide is legal in 11 countries: Austria, Belgium, Canada, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland and parts of the US and Australia.
