An “AI-powered virtual humanoid robot” named Tang Yu was designated CEO of Fujian NetDragon Websoft, a gaming corporation with its headquarters in Fuzhou.
According to a report by The Hustle, the company’s stock has outpaced the Hang Seng Index, which monitors the biggest companies listed in Hong Kong, since the announcement.
Also Google Finance reports the company’s shares climbed by 10% six months after NetDragon Websoft made the announcement and are currently valued at around HKD 9 billion.
Tang Yu, in the opinion of NetDragon, was appointed to improve decision-making and risk management effectiveness, as well as provide an equitable and effective work environment for all staff members.
In a press release, NetDragon’s chairman, Dejian Liu, stated that Tang Yu’s appointment as CEO shows the company’s dedication to adopting the use of AI for corporate management.
NetDragon was founded in 1999 and developed popular multiplayer games, including Eudemons Online, Heroes Evolved, and Conquer Online, as well as China’s first online gaming portal, 17173.com.
